We often hear about “mommy issues” (yes, this is real and will be in another post) and “daddy issues”. These dynamics are not specific to childhood, but exist into adulthood. The bottom line is parents have issues and if not dealt with accordingly may negatively impact you. You may experience guilt, shame, or embarrassment, or may feel trapped in response to reactions you have to your parents. Believe it or not, this is acceptable despite what the norm may be.
It is important to work through these challenges. You are only in control of you and how you respond. You are not responsible for your reactions or feelings despite what you have been told. Personal healing is important and looks differently for people. However you need to heal, do it for yourself. Your healing is solely about you and your needs. Healing also begins to break the cycle of generational curses.
